Clash of Institutions is a research program implemented by researchers from Wageningen University (NL) and Njala Universities (SL).
The main objective is to understand nature of institutional change in post-war rural Sierra Leone, and whether there is “clash of institutions”, e.g. between “clientelism” and markets, or whether new “hybrid” institutions are being formed.
The program is implemented by a multi-disciplinary research team involving a set of projects that have been implemented in Sierra Leone and its crossborder regions since 2011. See the Research Projects page for details on the individual projects. The Publications page list the current outputs by researchers, listing publications (with data), working papers, reports, pre-analysis plans.
